Another Frilly Survey!

I've seen this survey pop up a lot this past week so I've done one myself.

1) Do you still have your first Lolita piece?
Yes, Btssb Tarten Check jsk in blue and my Innocent World Alice jsk in dusty Rose. I still wear them a ton too!

2) What is the oldest piece in your wardrobe?
Right now it's actually the Btssb Tarten Check piece from 2003.

3) What is the newest piece in your wardrobe?
If we go with what is the latest thing I've purchased it would be the items of my Triple Fortune cream bonnet and a Triple Fortune happy pack that I got while at Rufflecon. It had 2 skirts, an op, wristcuffs, and a pair of tights. If we go by release date, I actually think the newest would be Rosy's Night Masquerade?

4) What is your cheapest main piece?
A Btssb jsk for $10.00

5) What is your most expensive main piece?
I've never bought anything more expensive then retail price and usually shop for bargains but I guess I would say Btssb's Sugar Rose Bouquet op when it went up for reserve?

6) What is your favorite item?
That is really really tough! I have quite a few favorite items, my Triple Fortune bonnets would all be on that list, so would my Fragrant Rose Memories, Night Fairy Fantasia, and Black Cat, Witch, and the Apple Tree.

7) Which item do you wear most?
I wear my items on a daily bases so that's hard, I try to switch them up and not wear the same thing to close.

8) Which item do you wear least?
Honestly, the newer ones that I'm just kind of waiting to wear to a meet up. There aren't that many though to be honest.

9) Anything you haven't worn yet?
Only a few things, mostly things I've just gotten.

10) What is missing from your wardrobe?
I had a problem coming up with something for this but it hit me early this morning when picking out a coord for the day, cream blouses in a wider variety of styles. I particularly need short and long sleeves in peter pan collars, high necks, and scoop cuts.

11) When will your wardrobe be complete? NEVAAAAAARRRRR!!!

12) What was the last Lolita item that you sold or threw away? It was the hardest thing to do but I got rid of my Btssb French Dot Café jsk in pink...I decided to part for several reasons...hopefully one day I can catch it again but maybe in red.

This next bit I had to go back and count but I wanted to be accurate just because I was getting curious of the actual numbers.

13) How many OPS do you have?
11 brand, 0 bodyline, 11 handmade. (22 in total)

14) How many JSKs do you have?
40 brand, 0 bodyline, 16 handmade. (so 56 in total)

15) How many skirts do you have?
5 brand, 3 bodyline, no handmade. (8 in total, I'm just not much into skirts I guess...)

16) How many petticoats do you have?
I actually just got rid of a few, so 4 now.

17) What do you plan to buy next?
Whatever floats my boat? But it wont be for a while...I have 2 items I'm thinking of looking for next and one is Nostalgia Tea Time and the other is a specific Triple Fortune lilac jsk.

18) When you first started wearing Lolita what did you want your wardrobe to be like?
When I started out I wanted it to be more gothic styled and instead I have become this mutated classic-ish creampuff.

19) What is your wardrobe currently like?
It is an amalgamation of almost every style, really. It's fairly versatile so I can wear whatever substyle I'm really feeling like wearing any particular day.

20) What would you like your wardrobe to be like in the future?
More rounded out. More classic pieces and maybe a bit more gothic, but really just cover me in flowers and your grandma's curtains already!

365 LLC: Day 85: Memorize A Poem

There are so many beautiful poems in the world and understanding the meaning behind the words is something we try to learn in school. I do particularly enjoy learning them so I picked a poem I liked from an author I enjoy.

A Dream Within A Dream
Edgar Allan Poe

Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow —
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand —
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep — while I weep!
O God! Can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?

What would you choose?

365 LLC: Day 54 and 55: Photographs & Read The Princess Code

Right now, the only pic I can really take a picture of things closed up but that hatbox, drawer, and the mirror contain all my pretty accessories.

The original can be found on The Princess Portal and I suggest a look around even though it was last active in 2008.

The Princess Code

A Princess inspires others to follow their hopes and dreams through pursuing her own.

A Princess greets everyone with a welcoming smile, melting the hearts of friends and disarming her enemies.

A Princess has dignity, which protects her from the opinions and spite of ignorant people.

A Princess always looks beautiful, even when she is asleep.

A Princess aims for perfection in every step.

A Princess should be given fresh flowers everyday, even if she has to give them to herself.

A Princess grows in recognition and stature in proportion to how much she treats others as royalty.

A Princess reflects her inner beauty in her aesthetic choices.

A Princess goes to war against the violence of incivility with the weapons of etiquette and prodigal generosity.

A Princess lives each day from the heart, expressing herself freely and treasuring every moment.

A Princess has the right to spend her funds on beautiful things she does not need because beauty in itself is priceless.

A Princess should follow her heart and believe in her dreams, even if the whole world seems to be against her.

A Princess respects her environment and nurtures the beauty of nature.

A Princess is never too busy to give a kind word or smile where it is needed.

A Princess’s most precious jewel is Hope, which lights her darkest days and shows her the beauty in every soul she meets.

In all honesty, most of these are things that should be gone after daily, whether by Princess, Prince, or warrior, a lot of this applies to how one should go about life.

365 LLC: Day 53: Design A Coordinate Based On A Painting

Today I scored the internet for portraits I really like and would like to coord around and I happened upon these two pieces that I feel like I may be able to do. The first one I stumbled on while browsing John Singer Sargent and Isabella Stuart Gardner and now that I can't seem to find the name, even while reverse googling and all that, I can't find the artist's name (if you know please feel free to drop a line because I'm pretty sure it's not a Sargent, it would be greatly appreciated!). I do have a perfect op for it though and would like to coord it different to what I'm used to and give it a similar look.

The second is a portrait done by Sargent and is of Isabella Stuart Gardner and it is really lovely in person. I have an Alice and the Pirates jsk that would be fun to style this way. It's totally my kind of style and I love doing my hair in similar ways, I don't have long enough pearls but I'll figure out something.

Stay tuned!

365 LLC: Day 52: Learn How To Spot A Constellation

I miss looking up and being able to look at the stars since moving here. Where I lived before in RI wasn't the best for stargazing, not really, but at my parents house it was decent enough to see a sky full of stars. I could identify a few easily enough because I would look up at them enough growing up, having enough fascination with them to even learn their names. Here it's totally different and twice as difficult and it's kind of sad.

There is at least one relief from that, thankfully, the air and space museum! I feel like I rely heavily on the Smithsonian since I've moved, going there every other week. One of the recent meets was actually to the that same museum and we saw one of their shows about space and dark matter and it was just so cool to sit in that huge room and stare up and see all those stars again. The meet was really fun and the people who came were fun to be with too.

This particular post involves learning how to spot a constellation and honestly the easiest trick to it, and you will hear it often when learning to spot constellations (at least I did anyway), is to find the North Star, or the Little Dipper.

The night sky revolves around this little guy, not at the handle tip but at the bottom corner of the ladle looking part that is further from the handle, that is the brightest star in the night sky. For centuries, people of many different cultures all around the world have identified it as so but have called it by many names and have used it for guidance. I find it the best guidance navigating the stars.

365 LLC: Day 51: Share Your First Lolita Dress And Why You Chose It

I actually had similar prompts before and am just going to reuse the pics, maybe one day I'll take cuter pictures of them. These are my first two pieces:

IW Trump Alice JSK

Baby Tartan Check JSK

I still have them, I still love them, when I bought them I actually really really loved the tartan jsk because it was cute and because it was baby and I was over the moon about finding it and the IW jsk I loved Alice in Wonderland and just really wanted something from Lolita fashion desperately. I did think they were both cute and I was so excited to find that they both fit as I wasn't well acquainted with Japanese sizing and was certain my bust would make it a bust. I still really love both but I have over the years learned to embrace the IW piece every time I wear it.

365 LLC: Day 50: Take The "Are You A Pure Lolita" Quiz From The GLB

I read through the posts that have the translated quizzes from the Japanese GLB's and I'm laughing so hard!

There are a few questions about manners, some of which I find ridiculous and others sensible, like "If possible, you'd love to be a person who exists eating only rose petals?" just a tad extreme, though I do love eating things with rose petals in them (like those cookies!) or "You never cross your legs on the train" which isn't funny or anything like that, just sad because there is no leg space for comfort. The questions that got me were about what I thought of other Lolita's and their habits. The truth really is is simply I don't care, everyone is entitled to do their own thing and feel however they want whether they are head~to~toe in Angelic Pretty or Moitie.

All around, it was just silly things and silly questions, though I wouldn't mind a castle to be quite honest.

365 LLC: Day 49: Keep Your Posture In Check

Posture to me is very important as I am a slightly busty lady and I really don't want to end up with a hunched back. My back does hurt constantly and I find that if I'm slouching or hunched over in a chair it's bound to be the cause of my problems. Every day I try to remember to stand tall and yet still feel relaxed, it's tough but that's life, it's something that I've have been drilling in my head since I was little.

Posture is also important in taking good pictures. I'm not really good at taking pics but I try and when I do my first thought, after not making too derpy of a face, is to make sure I'm not slouching or hunched. This pic is a bit extreme but I feel it demonstrates well enough that if I stand straight and try to square my shoulders just a bit then I feel like I have slightly better posture and I don't look too weird. Here's hoping it all works out, I'm going to stop here and make a separate post for the GLB quiz section for today.

L52C: Why Don't I Wear Lolita More Often? (and combining 365 LLC)

I was going to go about this and replace my usual 365 LLC post with this but it seems it's really a moot point, so here is all is:

I usually browse Closet Of Frills and other coord pages (I've just took to Instagram recently so I'm going through those too) and though I don't usually hit that like button or comment I do really enjoy peoples coords. SO today I shall comment on a few!

That said and done with the prompt for this weeks Lolita 52 Challenge is another short answer from me. It's simply not applicable. If I wore Lolita any more often I would probably have to jump in the clean my house, shower, or sleep in it to get any further wear. Yes, there are days I actually don't wear it like going out with my husband or cleaning or I'm lazing about in my pyjamas on the weekends but lately I throw my frills on. The one thing I will not do though is put on make up, I'll do that if I'm going out with friends or for a meet but that's it, I will do my hair though.

But that is all for today as I have nothing else for you, for now I'm just going to pour another pot of tea and browse more cute frilly people in cute coords.

365 LLC: Day 47: Browse Through Antiques

Had to run errands today so I was out and about and near one of my favorite haunts for antiques! I'll just post pics as I feel

I almost bought this kitty teapot, I had to restrain myself as I don't usually buy ones like these but it was soooooo cute!

I usually pick up a thing or two and I actually put aside some new creamer/sugar sets, new tea spoon, and a new cup that I have to pick up tomorrow. That's pretty much how I roll in the antique shop.

365 LLC: Day 46: Learn A Parlor Game

There are a ton of different Lolita meets and I would love to host a parlor game meet where there will be food and drinks first and then after the day settles down we play a handful of parlor games. I have learned a few in the past like "sardines" which can turn out extremely hilarious results especially with Lolita fashion. The new one I picked was "are you there, Moriarty?" which I strangely hadn't heard of but after reading the description wanted to play.

It has to be played pairs at a time and each player must have a non-lethal weapon, like a small pillow or loosely rolled newspaper, and lay face down on the floor. Each player must lay head to head and when ready take turns attempting to whack the other player. The player on the defense has to predict where their attacker is going to strike and roll out of the way then go on the offensive. This will continue until one player is hit and must drop out and be replaced by a new player until a victor is decided on.

It's funny to think of all the frills on the floor rolling around trying to avoid a pillow. There are blindfolded versions of the game where the pair can stand and face each other, which I'm sure more would prefer and is just as funny. Regardless of version, I believe this would be a "hit" at a home run event. Do you have any parlor games you enjoy?

365 LLC: Day 45: Share A Lolita Love Story

There are many options that I could go with on this prompt and what it made me think of was the love that goes into each stitch of every item, into every idea of the garment before it is revealed to adoring fans of the fashion. It really got me to thinking of the time spent on it for each designer and how they dream up something that they love and would want to share and about how I feel when I go through that process. It's loving and trying all at once.

I've only made a few things for The Bloody Tea Party brand, several commissions, and a few stock pieces that I've finally put up, every piece I make I love and I want the recipient to love it just as much. There are painstaking moments where I have an item, whether for myself or the shop, and I'll stop and think of where I want to go with it next. If I am mid-design and am find I don't like what I've planned I may sit there for a while and think what could I do with it to make me never let it go and hide it away in my wardrobe but require me to force myself to let it go. I want someone to want what I make as much as I do in that moment and be happy.

I know it sounds funny but I feel like each piece I make is like it's own love (sometimes hate)story and anyone who wears the fashion has similar feelings for the pieces they search high and low for.

365 LLC: Day 44: Check Out Your Local Library's Calendar Of Events

As I've just moved here I'm slowly getting acquainted with the area around me and I'm finding that a lot of these prompts remind me of things I keep thinking to check out. As a matter of fact it was just last night during my language class that we discussed the nearby libraries and visits.  There is a library that is right down the road from me but unfortunately it's about to close down and have another one built, I've looked at other nearby ones though,

I've checked the others and I finally remembered to look up the Library of Congress, I want to go and just get lost amongst the stacks but looking up the events has revealed that there are many more things to see. I would really want to check out the ambrotypes and tintypes that they have on loan from the Linjenquist family that they have just set up this past month.

What are some of the events at the library near you?

365 LLC: Day 43: Doodle And Label The Top 5 Destinations You'd Like To Visit

I am so cheating and tracing this because if I tried to draw it they would look unrecognizable.

Hungary

I have studied about this place for years and I would love to actually get there one day and see it for myself.

I'll list the other 4 for now because I'm still trying to draw pics and I am really not good at this. Japan, Tokyo Rebel, England (really anywhere in England that is pretty with a tea room), and Romania.

LBC: What Is Your Number 1 Goal Item Right Now

DREAM GOALS!

My number one item to obtain right now is really tea prints like tea cups and things like that but the biggest is:

 Tea Time Nostalgia from Baby!

It's been on my mind on and off recently and I'm willing for pretty much any color, top choice being the mint really. I'll keep looking but there is no real rush, it's just been, you know, haunting me and telling me I need it every so often f^_^;

Anywho, if I'm not focusing on this piece the only other piece that I've been actively hunting is for another 3F bonnet in cream or burgundy. I almost don't care what color except I want it so I can make a few coords around the colors for RC2016.

But that's it for me. What is your numero uno target?

If you want to see what other's have hoped to acquire for their wardrobe you can check their posts out below:

365 LLC: Day 42: Wear Something By Your Favorite Brand

I had a lot to do today and got started early and when I saw the prompt before I changed I decided to go with some Alice and the Pirates. My socks and the jsk are both Aatp while the blouse is F+Friends and the jewelry is vintage and the headdress is handmade by me.

And since I managed to everything I needed to do and had a chance to sit down and eat I realized I had enough things to make an afternoon tea. I made tea sandwiches and scones and cookies and cheese and fruits, I took out some of my best tea things and enjoyed by the large window in my apartment. It turned out very nice, I think, and I would like to prep a more elaborate one with a few friends.

365 LLC: Day 41: Learn A New Word

I found a few fun words today and I think I will add them to my repertoire.

The one I will share with everyone right now is "fantast" it looks like it is the word for fantastic doesn't it? It is a noun and it means that someone is impractical, impulsive; a dreamer and there are a few other fun descriptors that follow and I find I like it.

Lolita 52 Challenge: Why I Wear Lolita

There are many reasons for why anyone would wear anything and for exactly the same reasons I wear Lolita fashion, because I like it. I can't seem to get over all the frills and ruffles and the pretty things that goes with it, for me there really is no escape. I know that in some instances it's a little much however, for the most part, I don't care I just always wish to be frilly.

My lifestyle also permits me to be able to wear my clothing often so it's not too over-burdensome and I know where to draw the line and go with civies, but other then that it's fair game for me. And yes there are days I may not feel like changing out of pyjamas but the instance I walk into my closet it's usually a done deal and I'm halfway through throwing on something. And I don't always do regular toned down coords, sometimes I through together something a little OTT and just run with it and if I leave the house actually do hair and maybe makeup.

I also just find it wasteful not to change into them if I have a chance, the prices of the fashion are indeed steep but that's not the only reason, I often wonder if I will feel like I didn't do enough of the things I love and loose those chances. I feel a sense of freedom in frills, to be perfectly frank, I'm uninhibited and feel as though I have a better grasp of things because I know they are only clothes and that there is simply no reason not to wear the things I like or be the way I like (if you haven't gathered by now I am a little mad).

Why do you wear Lolita? Can you resist the pull of the frills?

365 LLC: Day 40: Wear A Fragrance

Today was actually a slow and snowy day but seeing this prompt in the morning and knowing I was going to bake I found it fitting to still indulge. I've been going a little crazy for roses lately and today my whole apartment smelled of roses and sugar as I made more rose petal cookies and tried a new recipe out of cranberry rose drop scones so as I had made home made rose water I figured it be nice to wash my face with it as rose water is also a great toner for skin. So my home smelled of roses, my tea time was made of roses, and my whole face smelled of roses. It may sound like going overboard but it really did make the day just a tad sweet.

365 LLC: Day 39: Browse Through Dresses That Were Released When You Started Lolita

I have just taken another trip down memory lane and can't believe the things I've forgotten. I'm going to go with 2007 as it is the year I bought my first 2 dresses so these were released around then and have, over the years, made their way into my wardrobe.

This is not my first dress and though it is an older piece I really enjoy it and wear it fairly often.

I had managed to get this for such a good price and I wanted it sooooo badly! Now I want it in the ivory and maybe in the underbust version.

This was one of my first dresses I ever wanted and got it but I still covet it in mint. (If you happen to see it please drop me a line!)

I actually had this one in pink instead. I still have the headbow and think I want to get another version of the jsk, though I'm not so sure.

One of my favorite purchases. I did buy this short version in the black but that was around 2013(?) but as I've posted before I had first bought the dusty rose colored long jsk back in 2007.

I started to buy pieces around this time, though I had discovered Lolita around 2004, and I'm so happy that I managed to find these throughout my time in the fashion. My wardrobe is still growing and after browsing I'm trying to keep my head low and out of the sales comms as there are many more pieces I would like to acquire.
