365 LLC Days 117 - 119: Of Old Photos, Small Indulgences, & Favorite Colors

April 27, 2018

I really enjoy looking through photos from before my time and have begun to collect little cabinet photos to prop up in my shelves, here and there. I've recently found one that I'm still debating on of two women with bicycles down at one of my favorite antique stores, it was a really lovely piece. Most of these are clearly printed photos that were used during the A Memory In Time tea party that was held during Otakon that people were encouraged to take home with them. Others are some postcards I've picked up over the last year or so.

These photos always make me wonder what the person in them is thinking. Were they bored? What were their hopes and dreams for themselves? Were they kind to others or just another product of their time? So many questions and hardly a way to know...

This isn't very much of an indulgence to many but I really enjoy collecting brochures and post cards. They can be expensive sometimes but most are under a $1 and they make for great momentos. Collecting postcards, both used and new, was also a popular Victorian past time for obvious reasons. I do try to collect some for myself to keep but I tend to like sharing a bit and send some to my nephew and my nana as my nephew sometimes thinks they're cool and I just like to bother my nana with things I see but her phone does do text. Who knows how this will all turn out in a few years, maybe I'll have a wall of little indulgences in postcards.

At first I was going to wear my AP blue halterneck jsk to go see Avengers: Infinity Wars (I think I'm more affected seeing it in live action then I was when I read it) to kind of go with a semi Captain America kind of look but I just wasn't up for it and the prompt persuaded me otherwise when I double checked it this morning. Every time I through on this jsk I just get a little boost as I like the print so much and it's actually pretty comfy so that made things a plus.

Well, now I'm off to go sob into my tea as I'm still not okay after that (SERIOUSLY MARVEL!), there needs to be a support group. haha

Cheers! XOXO

  1. I loved those postcards! It reminds me I found some Imai Kira postcards in a second hand sales site here in my country and got really excited to put them into cute frames <3

    And I loved your outfit!

    1. I say go for it! I do have a few of the brand post cards put into frames of some of my favorite prints and find nothing wrong with it.
