365 LLC Days 252 - 254: Of Poetry Appreciation, Handwritten Brand Names, & 5 Themes I Would Love To See In Lolita

September 9, 2018

I do enjoy quite enjoy poetry and have a few favorites, I've even written a bit - I believe one of my very first posts was a bit of poetry I wrote - but though I enjoy and appreciate it I tend to gravitate towards a certain style. Things that have a bit of a dark edge to it and aren't always about describing exquisite love or features of a loved one aren't always my cup of tea, I simply have never found them interesting. Poems about madness and death, ghosts and fairy abductions, things that give you a slight chill, now those are the ones that I enjoy. Below is one I've always rather enjoyed:

I died for beauty, but was scarce
Adjusted in the tomb,
When one who died for truth was lain
In an adjoining room.

He questioned softly why I failed?
"For beauty," I replied.
"And I for truth - the two are one;
We brethren are," he said.

And so, as kinsmen met a-night,
We talked between the rooms,
Until the moss had reached our lips,
And cover up our names.

Emily Dickenson

This poem was one I found a long time ago and has stayed with me, etched into my mind though sometimes I forget that it is simply called "I died for beauty." It is the last 3 lines that stand out the most in my memory and really captivates me with it's imagery.

And now, I am roaming the internet for all sorts of poetry pieces I really enjoy. Ones such as Ode to a Grecian Urn, La Belle Dame Sans Merci, the Kraken, Because I Could Not Stop For Death, and The Haunted Palace are roaming through my head now and I need to pick them up and read them over. I guess that's not such a bad thing to do while stuck as I am on the road. I suppose I will do that for a few hours then.

These are really my favorites and you can't convince me to write out just one. Each brand holds special place in my heart for various reasons, mainly they both make me feel like a princess and cute but not too sweet.

What is your favorite brand, and why?

<3 More tea elegant tea themed prints - I do not care that there are some I'd just really love for more and for them to be more elegant rather than cutesy.
<3 More witchy prints - I know we have some but I want more and for them to be more than just symbols. I feel like something that takes imagery from folksongs would be extremely lovely.
<3 Fairytale prints that aren't typical - I'd settle for a Mad Hatter's tea party print but I'm not just asking for different characters of the story but ones from all around the world. Give me Krumpus! And I would love to see Bluebeard prints! Give me Ye Xian, for crying out loud!
<3 Creepy but elegant prints - I have scenes from stories I'm dying to draw out of my brain! This covers horror stories, folklore, and traditional games that are also creepy.
<3 Butterflies - We have tons of other animals but we have only had so much for butterflies.

I wish I could draw well and then on top of that I wish I could draw fast and then I could get these ideas out of my head.

It's almost time for supper but I'm actually ready to curl up into a nice warm blanket with one of my cats and a spot of tea. For most of today I've been sewing up a Witch's Bonnet and jotting down themes and project ideas as they come to mind. I think with the hurricane coming in soon I'm going to stock up on some beads and charms so I can do things in case the power crashes. Please stay safe everyone, stock up on what you need and take care, cheers! XOXO
