Gotta Get Back To Rufflecon!!!!

The day has finally arrived! We just got our first update for RC 2015 and I am already going batty.

Last year's program pic, artwork: Jessica Leung

What's RC, you ask? Why, it's only the Northeast's first and only elegant and alternative fashion conference!

Though it is a highly Lolita populated convention that is not the only fashion to attend. Visual~Kei, Dolly~Kei, Aristocrat, Steampunk, Goth, and a multitude of other alternate fashions are in toe sporting their best looks. I also heard that they were looking to pack in more for the gentlemen who attend.

Guest designers and panels were fun and exciting and the fashion show was probably my most favorite planned event of the entire con. And the fun and shenanigans didn't stop there so I can't wait to see what's happening when they update further.

You may think I'm going a teeny bit over board...but I'm not the only one, cause it was that awesome!!!

My local come is at it again and we're planning things similar to last year and we've already hit the ground running. From coordinate planning and our own personal scheduling, we have started listing things in posts so we can all be on point for plans. And from what I'm seeing on the boards and on my feed from others I've connected with last year, we aren't the only ones.

Last year, I think in coords alone I had 5 different ones planned out and executed with maybe one minor hitch on Sunday. That goes to shows how active this con can be and it had only been 2 1/2 days!!! This year it's going on for 3 1/2 and I've already planned 4 coordinates, if you can believe it, with at least 2 being handmade. And to top it all off, everyone looked pretty darn fabulous last year and I think people are going to set new highs.

Plans this year for BTP is to have a few clothing items and accessories up at the remote table. I've already started putting things together for an online shop, as I've mentioned in past post. I want to get out there and share some frilliness. I also hope to do the fashion show again and one of the other shows as well, maybe a handmade contest and the talent show, but we shall see.

The dates have changed a little but it is the first weekend of October, the 2nd to the 4th. You can find out more about it here along with updates from last year. It's going to be bigger and grander than even before as last year was just a sort of prelude of what's to come. So get on board and get planning!

You know you wanna go!

It's Snowing!!!

Which this means I will be making more things for my future shop and personal Lolita wear, cuddling and playing kitties, while drinking hot chocolate. Not all at once but pretty close as yesterday I was doing similar things as if I had some sever caffeinated moments yesterday (I don't drink coffee).

I added little pearls in all the roses.

But for a little play by play this is what I have going on at the moment.

Haircombs I'll be adding pearls and anchor charms too

I've been holding true to my new years resolution and working on a big project like jsks and bonnets or blouses or start to finish, small ones like rosettes and headbows and wristcuffs.

I'm currently doing finishing touches on a dress I've been making for myself that I've made from scratch and wish to use the pattern for my future shop and I've cut out a bonnet, almost finished a cannotier, and a matching rosette for it. I still want to make a small headdress for it, as well, I've lucked out with tons of scraps that I've been able to use for different smaller accessories. I can't wait to have everything done!

All I need is enough of that soft gold lace to add to the skirt and neckline.

I have so many smaller projects it's all over my sewing table and I'm thinking of ways to solve this little problem. A few I will be definitely keeping as they are tests or for fun (my Hogwarts rosette ^_^) and some are gifts but regardless I'll need a way of housing them without being overrun.

Do you have projects going on to keep yourself busy this snow day? What are some of your favorite projects you've been working on or completed? I'd love to hear so drop a comment and share!

I'll be posting all of these and my other finished hand~made dresses and blouse projects in another post shortly. Until then brew up a nice pot of tea to warm yourselves up in this cold and enjoy the tea party!

LBC: Coord Made Completely From Handmade Or Local Clothing And Accessories

The LBC this week made me go all through my hand~mades and try to find a cream blouse to match half of it but this one I settled on because it had a decent picture.

I decided to go the quick route and post a pic I've had from an earlier meet from last year.

Everything is handmade by me unless it is bought from an antique shop or shoe store.

Blouse/OP/Underskirt/Bloomers/Petticoat: Handmade
Jewelry/Hat: Antique
Shoes/Socks: Store bought...from somewhere I forget but I believe the shoes are from T.J. Maxx

My goal this year is to make much more like this and I have a particular piece in the works that I'm very proud of that I can't wait to post.

Check out the other bloggers who wrote for this topic and what they coordinated with handmade and local pieces. If you'd like to learn more about the LBC check them out on FB. Don't forget to read the description if you want to join in!

1-15 Curious Onlooker
 1-15 points means you're familiar with the fashion and have taken an interest in all things frilly and Lolita. You've probably attended a few open events, maybe own a few pieces of Lolita, lurk the online communities, and you definitely are on your way to knowing your stuff! Your next step is probably buying the final piece for your first full outfit and finally headed to your first meetup!

16-40 Just Starting Out
16-40 points means you're just starting out in the world of Lolita. You may have been interested in the fashion for a few years but are just now getting involved in wearing the fashion on a regular basis and joining local communities. You probably have a couple full outfits but are still working on building a larger wardrobe. Alternatively, you have a larger wardrobe and definitely know your stuff, but you aren't very active in local or online Lolita communities and are perhaps more of a lone Lolita. Your next step is probably either finishing up adding a few more pieces to your wardrobe or to starting getting to know some other Lolitas.

41-60 Well-Rounded Lolita
 41-60 points means you're probably a very well-rounded Lolita. You have a fair sized wardrobe that allows a variety of outfits and some style experimentation, you have a few Lolita friends, and you've attended your fair share of meetups and even fashion shows. You probably have a few volumes of the Gothic & Lolita Bible hanging around your bookshelf and you've definitely taken an interest in Lolita hobbies. Your next step is probably to step out of your comfort bubble, try a new style you've always wanted to try, host your own meetups, or perhaps finally apply to be a model for a local Lolita fashion show.

61-80 Experienced Lolita
61-80 points is the realm of an experienced Lolita! You've probably been active in the fashion for a number of years, have a fairly large and diverse wardrobe, and have attended (and hosted!) your fair share of Lolita events. You're most likely well-known within your local, and online, communities. You're probably practically an expert on the fashion and have probably introduced, or at least guided, a few friends along the right path in the fashion. Your next step is most likely to do a closet cleaning or some wardrobe organization because you probably have a few years of accumulated clothes.

81- 100 Top Of Your Game
 81-100 points is at the top of the Lolita game. You've definitely been active in the fashion for a number of years, or possibly you've had a very intense first few years. You've gone out there and had the chance to do some pretty cool things that you always dreamed of doing back when you first got started as a Lolita. There's a good chance you're a leader in both your local Lolita communities and the online Lolita-sphere. Your next step is probably to kick a few more things off your Lolita bucket list!

101 points is within the ream of Lolita royalty. You probably have enough clothes to dress your own personal rufflebutt army, which you could very well easily raise with a wave of your very expensive burando scepter! You're well known by Lolitas both near and far, who are most likely green with envy at what you have in your closet, who you've met, and what you've had the chance to do. There are probably still a few items left on your Lolita bucket list that have been haunting you for a while now because you thought they've always been out of your reach for one reason or another (perhaps it's that long-distance shopping vacation, to complete your dream dress list, or to finally host the tea party of your dreams), but look how far you've come yet! Whatever it is you want to do, you can probably achieve it easily, or at the very least, you definitely have the patience within the fashion to stick with it for a while and work on getting it done.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So what's your Lolita level?
I did my tally and got 103! I was actually a little surprised with how high I scored. This does give me ideas for creating new games for simple blogging posts and meets and if I come up with anything I'll definitely post them here to share.
If you wish to take the even older quiz by Victoria of Parfait Doll check it out and see what you'd score there.
Hope you enjoyed!
LBC: Favorite Event From 2014
This past year has been one awesome and fun event after another and picking only one as a favorite is tough.  Too much fun has been had at every meet and event, I'm not sure there was anything that I  didn't find favorable so I'll keep with the biggest.
RUFFLECON!!!
II
It was like a dream. So many frilly people to see so many pictures to take and things to do, it was truly fantastic. I was able to hang out with my friends in my local community who I think the world of and was glad to have a weekend of frills and fun.
I took as many pictures as possible (my fb has a ton of RC pics) and made many new friends and enjoyed shopping in the merchants room and being in the fashion show. Every little thing had me excited to have been able to attend and I've been checking for any updates that RC may have for 2015.
What RC has brought me to really think about is some of my goals for myself. I do want to better my coordinates and makeup and hair, most definitely, and I think I did a good enough job this past year but now I wish to further my skills.
Another thing that I've been working towards is making my small Indie Brand happen. I've been working on small accessories everyday since before the new year or working on strengthening my sewing skills with my serger. My plans are to be able to have plenty of stock for the remote vendors table.
LBC: How I've Changed In Lolita Over The Last Year
It has been a crazy this past year and I'm certain 2015 is going to be just as topsy~turvy for me as well. One thing I've been thinking about lately was how I've changed within the fashion. I've kind of cringed at the thought, but I believe I've made leaps since the summer.
I usually wear every day or so and that made this a bit difficult but I'm going to go the way of meet ups. There are 2 glaring differences I could use from January to December. I pretty much had a great start and then I started to kind of hit and miss at spring/summer meet ups, I really did better when it came to styling my real hair. Unfortunately, you don't get to see any of this from the meet up pictures.
I wish I had taken the time to do my real hair for this particular coord, you don't get to see this part of the transformation but I started to think of where real hair was better than wig.
I am very proud of this coord and that it was all handmade. It's still a work in progress but I think this was pretty well done.
This is the first time I ever got to wear this piece. It's one of my dream dresses and I was so excited to wear it and how it coincided with RC's High Tea theme. I did wish I could have snagged a 3F bonnet to match but that comes later and you can see the coord I had wished to wear for the even.
We did our annual Frills & Chills meet up and managed to survive the planning craze between everything.
A picture of my husband and I on October 31st, I still don't have many pictures, but the ones I do have are nice enough. All I can say was October was a BUSY month, starting with Rufflecon and ending with my wedding.
Triple Fortune bonnet!!! This coord is completely different from how I wore it in October. I went with a different blouse and shoes and finally had my bonnet.
Going through the pictures doesn't really get to help with my hair an make up growth but I definitely used my real hair more in my every day Lolita wear. I have learned that I should be more confident in meets with my natural hair and I did learn more make-up wise this year. I feel as if I've done less sweet this past year and even less sweet, delving more into classic and classic-sweet, I'd like to do more of all of them.
LBC: Lolita Holiday Wishlist
Every Lolita will have a wishlist. Some have a mile long one while others only a few pieces. My wishlist happens to be getting my room to look like a Lolita brand store! In my more realistic wishlists it's to have more staple pieces like blouses and petticoats, but a frilly dream of a store sized closet isn't a terrible thing, is it?
Here is a short abbreviated list of things I think I need for my wardrobe and not so much everything I would love to see hanging up on my racks list.
★Chiffon Blouses★
Something like this, in pink, would be ideal for my wardrobe right now but maybe with a Peter Pan collar for My Sweet Mate Kumya Chan's Trick~Or~Treat! If I could get similar ones in creams, black, or whites that would be all the better too for other coordinates that I feel really could use them.
★Black Cat, Witch, And The Apple Tree★
I'm a sucker for this dress and I think I simply need all of the Baby and Aatp August/Halloween releases. I'm simply going to keep looking for that reasonably priced jsk and it really doesn't matter which colorway at this point...
★Matching Triple Fortune Bonnet★
If I were to ever get my hands on a red colorway of Black Cat I would so want to snag that new red and black bonnet from 3F to match. THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN! If not I would simple wish to make a matching one to that particular jsk.
★A Better Petticoat★
Both A-line and Cupcake shaped. I need better for both and I haven't had the time nor ability to get to a store and buy fabric for one. I do know how to make one now though but I didn't have any organza or even heavy tulle to make one.
★More Fabric And Lace★
 There can never be too much fabric and lace in the life of a Lolita. It would be great to have more at my disposal and make more of the things I need and want. I would probably have at least 5 or 10 more blouses, especially with my serger up and going.
So that's what I have on my most recent wishlist. To see what other frillies have on theirs check them out here:
Lace Teapot
Poppy Noir
East Coast Pocket Princess
